The Right Pressure

One day in the men’s locker room inside the gym, a guy answers a cell phone ringing, “Sweetie, I dropped at the mall and I found this awesome bracelet on sale I was wondering, can I get it?”

The guy looks bleak and asks, “How much does it cost Hon?” The wife replies “It’s only a thousand dollar, please!” He looks disappointedly and says “Sure, why not honey!” The wife replies, “Thanks sweetie! Awesome!

In a split second, something flickered on her mind, “ Oh! Baby I just remembered that one SUV I wanted, I drove by the Mercedes-Benz dealer and they are having a huge sale! Can I get it?” The guy, turning beleaguered and baffled, asks “How much are you paying for it?” The wife replies, “Oh, its about 120K dollars!” The guy hastily replies “Fine sweetie if you’ll spend that much I want it with ALL the options!”

The wife, extremely jovial for his husband’s generosity almost jumps the escalator in gratitude and says “Ok sweetie! I’ll see you when I get home!” The guy hangs up the phone and with a hilarious smirk on his face turns around facing the four other guys changing near him and asks ” Do you guys have any idea whose cell phone is this?”

In real life, human has this certain type of character that tends to be thoughtless taking actions without looking at what might be its upshot in the long run.

For where our treasure is there also our hearts be!

What is it that pressures you today? Peer pressures! Family pressures? Work pressures! All of it!

Pressures make our minds complicated. When our classmates or colleagues bought a pair of Guess skinny jeans and Bench shirt, we could not relax, applied for a credit card and bingo! we've got what we want! What's the next scenario? Headache! We could hardly manage our finances because of piled up bills.

When one notices his/her neighbor with a brand new high-end cellphone, chances are that one may be pressured.  Reselling the old unit and buying the more sophisticated phone will be most likely the next alternative which one parades in public until a bystander discreetly snatch the phone. What's next scenario? Headache! We end up poor again!

Commonly, it has been noticed that many entered into a multiple sexual relationship. What we do is we even double what they have to outwit them. What happened? Education and career are compromised. Everything is at lost.

This is our problem! We can't be natural! We spend beyond our means. We're pressured to imitate on what we see that what is affordable and pain-staking. Nevertheless, there's a lesson for everything. Misfortune carries us always to a more responsible and to be meticulous in all choices. Our wrong actions that produce much headache and dissatisfaction taught us to be cautious on planning and to be mature on preferences, to be firm on decision-making.

Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world, yet the world and enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever (1 John 2:15-17)
